Training purpose and objectives
The training course “Hazardous substances Training” is designed to inform the participants which hazards can result from hazardous substances and which negative effects they can have on health and the environment. This knowledge is intended to enable the participant to take the correct safety measures. He will be able to use the respiratory and skin protection correctly and understand and apply the instructions for safe use provided by the company.

After the training, the participants are familiar with the properties of dangerous and hazardous substances. They know which consequences they have for health and the environment. Particular attention is paid to the correct use of respiratory and skin protection. The participants also know how a safety data sheet is structured and which information is relevant to them. In addition, the participants learn how to act in emergency situations and which instructions for safe use they have to adhere to.
Course Content:
- Identifying Hazardous Chemicals and their health effects.
- An overview of key workplace requirements under Hazardous Chemicals legislation
and codes of practice. - How to identify Hazardous Chemicals and understanding their
health effects. - Reading labels, Hazardous Chemical Registers and Safety Data Sheets
- Understanding labelling, safety data sheets and Hazardous Chemical Registers.
- Identifying chemical related hazards and implementing suitable controls.
- How to identify and manage Hazardous Chemical risks and effective controls.
- Correctly storing and handling Hazardous Chemicals (including PPE requirements)
- Overview of storage requirements, including maximum volumes, compatibility and
signage requirements. - How to know what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to
wear. - Dealing with chemical emergencies.
- Types of chemical emergencies and how to deal with them, including an overview of emergency equipment, including spill kits and fire-fighting equipment (FFE).
